THE PEOPLE OF DESTINY

OUR History

People of Destiny (POD) was founded in 2021 in response to the growing social and community needs across South Jersey, with a particular focus on Camden’s Parkside neighborhood. Officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in January 2026, POD serves as the community development and outreach arm of The Quba School & Islamic Center. The organization was created to address critical issues such as food insecurity, youth mentorship gaps, and the limited presence of culturally responsive nonprofit services within the region’s growing Muslim community.

South Jersey has experienced steady growth in its Muslim population over the past decade, including young families and individuals newly embracing Islam. Despite this growth, the nonprofit infrastructure within the Islamic faith-based community remains limited when compared to other well-established faith-based service networks. 

People of Destiny was established to help fill that gap while remaining committed to serving individuals and families of all faith backgrounds. Rooted in compassion, service, and community empowerment, POD works to build bridges between faith, social support, and neighborhood development.

 As demand continues to grow, the organization is expanding its services to include skill development and introductory trade training strengthening economic opportunity and families.

 Our vision is to revive the Prophetic model of community embodied in Madinah, a society rooted in faith, compassion, justice, and collective responsibility where every person has access to dignity, opportunity, and belonging. Inspired by the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, communities come together to nourish the body, mind, and soul by strengthening families, mentoring youth, feeding and housing the hungry and indigent, fostering economic opportunity, and building institutions that serve humanity. Through this shared work, the mercy, character, and social vision of Islam illuminate pathways for our community to flourish in unity, resilience, and service to all people and all of creation, regardless of faith or background.

​​Our mission is to strengthen families and uplift communities by providing mentorship, food security, education, skill and trade development, housing support, and economic opportunity through service inspired by the Prophetic example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ  rooted in compassion, justice, and collective responsibility for all people.
